Maryam is a mixed race actor, theatre maker and facilitator based in Teesside. She trained at Manchester School of Theatre, gaining a BA (Hons) in Acting in 2018. She then worked in primary education, qualifying as an SEN teacher in 2021.
Maryam recently returned to the arts and has been gaining experience in multiple disciplines. As an actor she has worked with Theatre Space NE in Julius Caesar, Live Theatre in The Interview (Live Writes), and Alphabetti for the Let’s Create Not Apply showcase. Upcoming projects include The Home Roadshow with Arc Stockton and Entelechy Arts, and ‘Wolf!’ with Kitchen Zoo at Northern Stage.
Maryam is a new writer, and is currently developing her first solo show which was shortlisted for the Captain Amazing Trainee bursary. She undertook a residency with Periplum for creating outdoor arts, and worked with Fierce productions to deliver Paul Ramírez Jonas’ work ‘Public Trust’ at SIRF. Facilitation work includes the Young Directors programme at Northern Stage, and as a sensory practitioner with Concrete Youth.
