Niamh Colling

Through years of avidly watching numerous dramas (especially period), and wishing I could wear each and every garment, I have loved having the opportunity to design, research and create costumes. I’m looking forward to continuing my career in the creative industry, helping to bring performances to life, creating a world for an audience to immerse themselves in.’
Niamh Colling graduated from Nottingham Trent University in 2024 with a First- Class BA (hons) in Costume Design and Construction. She has a broad range of making skills including pattern drafting and cutting, millinery, leather work, breaking down, jewellery making, embroidery and other textile techniques. She is also adept at creating and realising exciting, practical and original designs, not only in costume but also in other creative fields.
She is particularly passionate about sustainability which has led her to work with The Festival of Thrift, and is currently helping teach groups how to create, fix, and alter their own clothes. She has also explored various ways in making her own creative process more environmentally friendly through, using recycled materials, and experimenting with natural dyes.
